The Most Popular Private Helicopter in the World

Robinson Helicopter Company has delivered more than 12,000 helicopters since 1973, the largest civil helicopter manufacturer by unit volume. The R44 Raven II is the best-selling civil helicopter in history with over 6,500 deliveries. Robinson’s factory-direct pricing, low operating costs, and deep resale market make the R44 and R66 uniquely accessible.

Robinson financing is a specialized niche. Lower price points mean many traditional aviation lenders’ minimum loan thresholds become a factor. Robinson’s mandatory 2,200-hour or 12-year overhaul creates a unique collateral dynamic that general-purpose lenders often do not understand.

Robinson does not offer direct financing. JetLoan Capital finances both new and pre-owned R44 and R66 helicopters, with access to lenders who understand the overhaul cycle and actively compete for Robinson transactions.

R44 Raven II

The world’s best-selling civil helicopter. Lycoming IO-540 piston engine, 113 knots, 300 nautical miles. At ~$550,000 new, the lowest-cost path to four-seat helicopter ownership with $200 to $280 per flight hour operating costs. Over 6,500 aircraft create the deepest resale market in private helicopter aviation.

R66 Turbine

Rolls-Royce RR300 turbine reliability at roughly half the cost of competing turbine helicopters. Five seats, 122 knots, 325 nautical miles. At ~$1 million new, it undercuts the Bell 505 and Airbus H125 by 50 percent or more. Over 1,200 deliveries since 2010 are building the resale track record lenders need.

Typical Range: $600K – $950K pre-owned | New from: ~$1M

The Robinson Overhaul Cycle

Every Robinson must undergo mandatory complete overhaul at 2,200 flight hours or 12 years, whichever comes first. R44 overhauls cost $175,000 to $250,000; R66 overhauls run $300,000 to $400,000. After overhaul, the helicopter resets to zero-time for valuation. Lenders who understand this cycle structure loans accordingly.

R44 overhaul: ~$175K-$250K | R66 overhaul: ~$300K-$400K
